About Chris Anderson

I was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire and lived there up until December 2006 when I moved to the West Midlands to be with my future husband. We relocated to our current home in Edinburgh, Scotland in May 2008.

My interest in art started very early on as my father was an excellent artist but never had the opportunity to pursue his talent. I enjoyed the subject at school and studied up to 'O' Level but left school at 16 to go to work.

I dabbled a little in watercolour painting in the 80's but did not have the time to put in serious effort as I worked full time.
I worked in retail management for many years until I moved and renewed my interest in painting as a hobby whilst looking for a new job. I have found my enthusiasm for art has returned and I am enjoying discovering new skills with acrylic paints on canvas, a medium I had never considered before.

My daughter is also a very talented artist and studied the History of Art at university so I think the ability and love of the subject runs in the family!

I also love all kinds of music but I am an old 80's goth at heart. I have been a huge Formula One fan for many years - particularly Michael Schumacher for the duration of his career. Now, of course, I support Lewis Hamilton and watch every race on television whilst biting my nails!

I approach each new canvas with the enthusiasm to make it perfect. I paint by layering the colours until I get the depth of colour and texture I require, which usually takes several hours of applying and testing paint colours, consistency and brush strokes. I never rush a painting and put a lot of thought and concentration into each piece of work until I am satisfied with the result.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. I hope you like it.
